Etomidate Induced Hypoglycemia in Septic Conditioned Patients under General Anesthesia

Abstract

|
|
Single dose etomidate for induction of anesthesia is common for the hemodynamically unstable patients. But one single bolus of etomidate negatively influences adrenal function that could lead hypoglycemia and hemodynamic instabililty. Although single-dose etomidate is not associated with increased mortality, adverse clinical signs and laboratory findings and it would be critical to patient’s outcome.
